I've never had problems with daylight savings. I always remember when it is and I never end up an hour late or early getting somewhere.
And then there was this weekend.
First, I knew I shouldn't stay up late the night before. But then there were cupcakes to bake and cupcake recipes gone wrong. Then the cupcakes had to cool, and I got sucked into watching old episodes of How I Met Your Mother on Netflix. Then it was midnight and I knew it was time to go to bed, but when I got there, I was all like "yeah, I should read for a while".
Second, I relied too much on electronics.
I woke up feeling great the next morning. I looked at my cell phone and it was like 6:25, and I was impressed with myself. I basically woke myself up at 5:25 because I knew I had to get stuff done. So to congratulate myself, I went back to sleep. I woke back up around 7:45 and started my slow and lazy process of waking up (which mostly involves cuddling with the puppy a lot).
I went downstairs around 8:15 and started pulling out ingredients for frosting. Then I looked at the kitchen clock. It said 9:15 - Rich was already up and had changed it. Then I looked at the other kitchen clock, which we had never changed last daylight savings time and we were so ready for it to be correct again. It also said 9:15. Then, I panic. I made Rich google "what time is it" (yes, I'm crazy), only to find out that it was, in fact, 9:15. My phone never updated itself. Seriously.
Now, I like to think I'm not completely attached to my phone and could easily survive without it. But I realized that I rely on it completely to get me up in the morning and provide me with the correct time. And now I can never trust it again.
I'm on the hunt for a clock.
